Hello every One and welcome to the second Post for this Thoroughly Thrilling Thing King Thursday, though it Will be a short one.
Perhaps some Will remember a Post ‘the Rocky Road to 2000 ELO’? I was tall King about how I had a goal to reach a rating of 2000 in Rapid Chess on Chess dot com. Well, a few things have changed since then.
First, I stopped playing two hours of Rapid Chess a day because My hardware is not equipped to handle streaming live chess and audio – it was one or the other and I don’t really like to compromise on quality, so I figured I Will just wait until I have a better system before I stream My Rapid chess journey.
I also created a new account on Lichess specifically to reach My goal and start with fresh statistics. Although there are some features I really like about the game review on Chess dot com and the platform has a lot more players than Lichess, I can’t really imagine going back to Chess dot com after playing on Lichess for the last six months or so. Why? Cheaters.
I was honestly getting really frustrated with Chess and I think that any One would if they were studying and playing the game more, and performing worse. My rating dropped over three hundred points and I was really struggling to get back to even twelve hundred. It felt like People were cheating and I’m just not enough of an expert to know for sure, so I didn’t very often report People because I don’t Wish to make false accusations, and I don’t Wish to seem like a sore loser. Overall, it felt like roughly two out of three or even three out of four People I played would be cheating – but again, impossible for Me to know for sure.
After switching to Lichess, it was almost like rediscovering the beauty of chess all over again because even when I was losing, I felt like I was losing to real People because I made real mistakes or was just outplayed overall. My rapid rating on Lichess is 1373 after a few hundred games which is respectable for Me and roughly what I believe My last over the board rating to be (which was way back at the age of sixteen).
Although I stopped playing Rapid Chess as much, I still try to keep a queue of twenty-five correspondence games going. My first non provisional correspondence rating on Lichess was 1996 (which is phenomenal for Me!) and dropped to a low of 1930 (which is still exceptional for Me!). My hope was that I could hold My own at this rating level in games where I basically have unlimited time to think and reach a rating of 2000 ELO or better on or before 100 games. I am at game 96 with a rating of 2001 after winning My last game and earning seven points against a player rated 2000 exactly!
A rating of 2000 or better is considered an ‘expert’ in chess in the United States. I am beginning to believe I could become a Master in chess (2200 or better). I already have two wins against players rated 2200 or better, so it is entirely possible!
If You Wish to Play Me on Lichess, find Me at vonDehnVisuals and send Me a challenge.
Love and Blessings,
