Love Thy Neighbor

I was just a child, so small and bright,

Holding my first Bible, a gift so right,

With animals dancing on the yellowed page,

It felt like magic, a loving sage.

From Ron, my pastor, a guiding hand,

Taught me to walk, to understand,

“Love thy neighbor,” a sacred call,

Echoing through my heart, through it all.

Don’t leave the hurting on the shelf.

It’s a cruel, cruel thing to just sit and stare,

When a soul is broken, in need of care.

At Pole Road, I learned to see,

The pain in others, it reflected me.

But humanity’s heart, it turned so cold,

Watching abuse as stories unfold.

We can’t just stand and watch the tears,

The cries for help, the deepest fears.

Forgotten compassion, where love should guide.
